Comparing two different styles of magazines.

So we have been set a task to find two front covers of two different style magazines and to compare them together focusing on the makeup, The Imagery, The Font, Choice of colours, Backgrounds, The model choices, Clothing, Accessories ECT.

The magazines i have chosen are Auxillary and Vogue. They are two completely different styles As everyone knows Vogue is a very high end magazine and Auxillary is a very unique magazine its completely different to Vogue.

(Auxiliary:March 2013) (2)                                                                      (Vogue:January 2017) (1)

I have chosen these two images for the reasons as they are the total opposite because the model in the Auxiliary magazine is very punk, she’s covered in tattoos, has her nose pierced and its quite revealing as you can see her breast. The model has got quite a lot of makeup on its more colourful and bold but yet still flawless. Her hair her eyeshadow and her tattoos all have the same pink theme going on. I think she stands out a lot more due to her standing against a black background and it makes the colours pop. In Vogue they wouldn't allow the model to be covered in tattoos, and be revealing vogue is very classy and natural

Vogue makeup very simplistic, very fresh skin it really ties in with the beach theme thats going on, The models hairs scraped back and it looks like she's just come out of the sea with her beach waves that you can see. She's very tanned and that makes the blue stand out more. The background is the sea and it ties in with what the model is wearing a sea blue dress.

By just comparing the two magazines together you can easily tell what ones the more high end one due to the model, the lettering on the front cover on Auxillary it looks quite plain and the text doesn't really give away the impression of it being high end plus all the text is very dark. On the other hand if you look at Vogue's the text and the layout shows its a more professional and the texts grabs your attention with the bright colours and sizes against the background.

I personally prefer the model in the Auxillary magazine as she's very unique and she stands out and all of the models for vogue all look similar. But the model on the Auxiliary really grabs your attention with all the bright colours of her hair, her tattoos, her makeup and outfit and thats what i like. But Vogue on the other hand wouldn't accept anyone to model for them full of tattoos, piercings and brightly coloured hair they are very stereotypical and they only want models that are natural and less unique.
