Fashion Magazine Reasearch S/S 2017

Design Brief: You have been employed as a key Make up Artist for a 5 page fashion editorial shoot for your given magazine. Incorporating a couture look from S/S 17.

The Magazine i have chosen is Vogue for the shoot.

                                                               (Vogue:2017)

Vogue is an American fashion and lifestyle magazine. The British Vogue was the first international edition launched in 1916, and as of today they are 21 international editions. The magazine is usually about Fashion, Lifestyle and trends It started as a weekly newspaper in 1892 in the United States, before becoming a monthly publication years later.

The fashion thats in the Magazine is very high end fashion and quite expensive. Its aimed at the more wealthier women/upper class around 30-40 years old due to the fashion thats in the magazine. Various high end brands such as Chanel usually have their latest collections in the magazine to promote to the readers. This magazine wouldn't really encourage young readers to buy due to the high end fashion and its more for the older women with class.

Vogue's front covers always stand out and look very sleek and sophisticated due to the layout. The layout usually has a BOLD title to grab peoples attention the imagery is always a large photo of a model. The models always look beautiful in a nice outfit to promote the fashion and their makeup is always flawless and they always ensure that they are promoting the seasons colours. There is never lots of photos on the front page there usually is 1 main one and not a lot of text this shows you that the magazine is very high end. If the magazine was covered in text and lots of pictures it would make it look over crowded, like theres too much going on and quite tacky and as its aimed at more wealthier readers it needs to look as sleek as possible.

Fashion Trends: Spring/Summer 2017

The trend for S/S 17 has already hit New York, London, Paris and also Milan. Theres some amazing new outfits on the catwalk for the S/S season with a range of different colours, different textures, different lengths, and different fabrics. On the catwalk for Vogue in Paris one main colour thats really in for the season is Fushcia, a bright pink especially in the Paris S/S 17 catwalk.

Iv watched Chanel's S/S 17 catwalk and I'm really inspired there is so many different styles of clothing on the catwalk i noticed again that pink is a main colour on the catwalk like it was in Paris with Vogue, but theres a lot of clothing that looks like its from the 60's and 80's with the tweed blazer jackets and matching skirts, the vibrant colours, the fabric and material and the hats ect.

Another thing that i have noticed not just the fashion on the catwalk was the makeup for Chanel it was the makeup, the makeup is very minimal and the models hardly had any on they just looked like they had fresh skin. Again fresh skin is in for the makeup its all about the "No makeup makeup look" all about being able to see your skin. Throughout 2015-2016 the makeup was all about being flawless and a heavy coverage now for the S/S 17 its all about minimal makeup, fresh skin with a illuminating glow, hairy brows with hardly no product and again throughout the different fashion trends the eyebrows was very heavy, defined, full of product and now they have got a lot less defined and a lot less structured. The MUA'S are all doing the "Fluffy Brow" where its just improvising more hair on the natural brow to make them more natural and combing them up to give them more volume and to make them look less flat.

For my look i am taking inspiration from Chanel's S/S 17 catwalk by taking ideas from the models clothing i want to incorporate the bright colours from the garments shown on the runway i really love how the bright colours work together.
