Showcase Makeup Planning

For my showcase i have decided to do a Futuristic theme i want to do a space woman with bold bright makeup to really stand out i want to use pinks, purples, greens and blues with white in the waterline and white on the bottom lashes to make the eyes stand out a lot more and to make them look bigger.
I want the brows to be still natural looking but with some definition and not too much product in them to make them look too harsh. I really want the brow bone highlight so strong to enhance the brow bone.
For the lips i am going to be using a lilac lipstick with a purple lipliner and apply a pale shimmery green eyeshadow over the top to create a holographic space looking lip.
For the skin i want a flawless base with good coverage from the foundation with a light contour and a holographic highlight.

I want my models hair to be a pretty modern mohecan style up do sprayed with silver glitter.

I want to add glitter stars to the underneath the eyes and on the chest.

The outfit will be all silver i have decided i am going to be using a silver leotard and silver boots to really give off the space woman look.

I had gotten my ideas and inspiration from youtube  when watching my daily youtube videos and also pinterest and i had gotten really inspired by the space theme and the colours so i wanted to recreate it for myself but put my own twist on it using all bright colours to make the look stand out more.

Final showcase SIFI concept evaluation

Overall on my Sifi concept for showcase I really enjoyed it and I think that my planning and my work really payed off. I really wanted a more up to date fashionable makeup look as I put in my planning, the key feature i wanted to stand out was the eyes with all the bold colours, the white bottom lashes, the white in the water line and the glitter stars under the eyes. Due to me having to do the makeup at 12 o'clock and it getting marked at 8 o'clock I think that was the only problem as the hair had dropped slightly where my model had knocked it even though I had covered it in hair spray all over the hair and put so many clips in. I wanted the hair to look like a pretty, more fashionable up do mohican style and I really liked it and I just sprayed all silver glitter in the hair to tie in more with the theme. If I could go back and change bits from my look I would apply a slight amount of black mascara to the lashes to blend into the false eyelashes, I would use a stronger adhesive for the glitter on the chest as I had a lot of stars and glitter and some of it had come off when she got hot and sweaty as the room was really hot I didn't take that into consideration how hot it could of been and I should of brought more glitter stars and glue but I thought that they would stay on. But if I were to do it again I would cover the whole of her chest in the stars but use a stronger adhesive.

I think if we got graded earlier it probably would of been better as my model was drinking and eating I kept having to top up her lipstick and the eyeshadow pigment that I applied on top and it didn't look as good as it did the first time so I had to try and keep it as tidy as possible it started to look slightly "crispy". If I was to do the lips again I would take into consideration the length of time that the model would have to have the makeup and the lipstick on and I would find a longer lasting liquid lipstick like the Limecrime Holographic liquid lipstick so then I wouldn't have to worry about it sliding off and I know that it will be exactly what I want without using a eyeshadow pigment and by using the pigment it will dry out the lips as it is a powder on top of a lipstick and the models lips wouldn’t feel great as they are not getting the moisture they need and it would just make them feeling extremely dry and crusty.

I was really happy with my costume I think it looked amazing I bought a dance silver leotard and 1960’s silver tall boots it went really well with the theme. For the accessories I bought a child’s toy gun and sprayed it grey and I cut the bottom of a yoghurt pot and stuck it to the front of the gun and sprayed it grey to make it look like a space ray gun I was going to spray it silver to match the outfit but I wanted it to stand out and if there is too much silver it could look over the top.

If I could redo the makeup I would make it more difficult for myself like a rainbow cut crease with glitter this is what I was planning but the fact that I couldn’t practice on my model as she was from the casting call made me slightly worried. Because I didn’t want to plan a cut crease look if my model had a hooded eye or no eye space then I would have to make something up on the spot to suit her eye shape. I think what I had done the rounded blown out eye suits every eye shape and I personally thought that would have been the safer option. I tried to see her eye shape from the photos that was provided from the casting call but I couldn’t see that well.

I would like to recreate my look and do it all weird with the cut crease, crazy backcombed hair maybe some white contacts, and a different colour contour.

But overall I liked the way it turned out and I think it really suited the theme and purpose.

Avant garde Sifi Showcase

What is Avant Garde?

Avant garde is known for being dramatic, artistic, and often extreme. The polar opposite of a natural look, avant garde is all about creativity and expression. I love doing Avant Garde as you can go as crazy as you want and there is no limits.

For my Avant Garde work i am going to be linking it with my Showcase look i am going to be doing something Sifi like alien/space woman.

For the makeup i want it to be very bright and bold especially the eyes with white mascara and white eyeliner to really open the eyes and to make them look bigger than what they. I want my eyes to be pastel colours like blues, pinks and purples and glitter as i want it to be more Avant Garde but have my own twist to it. I want to use a Holographic highlighter on the cheek bones and also under the brow bone to really ensure that it stands out.


For the costume i have chosen to get a silver all in one PVC catsuit and silver high boots.

For hair i want something avant garde but pretty at the same time i was thinking a hair up moheakan as its very pretty but i can make it big and wild and add glitter to the hair to make it more space like.

Casting day for the live Models

So on the 30th March 2017 there was a Model casting call arranged for all the models that are willing to participate for our showcase event as we handed out leaflets and posted it all over social media.
Unfortunately none of the Year 1's could attend due to having a photo shoot for our colour concept but Mollie and Paris went to interview the possible models and got pictures of them and got them to fill out a form to fill out details such as;

• Name
• Age
• Height 
• Clothing Size
• Shoe Size
• Mobile Number
• Email Address 
• Previous Modelling experience 
• For the model to accept that the images taken can be used on Social media

Paris took photos of the models and posted them on facebook so we can all choose the models we wanted as it was first come first serve.

I chose my model she's called Charlotte, i contacted her telling her everything that will be happening on the day with travel arrangements etc, my theme and to basically introduce myself so it won't be awkward when we meet. Also just to show her my outfit choice for her so she's comfortable wearing it etc.

Showcase Jobs

Myself, Molly H, and Holly from my group all got assigned to ring some Local coach companies regarding prices on coaches to fit 80 of us on but we really didn't ave any luck! We phoned so many places and one company did say the cheapest would be £450 for a school bus. Then we tried on to Mini buses again that was an ridiculous amount of £500 so clearly we wouldn't have enough in the budget for the transport which is devastating but we are having to personally take our models and make our own way to the event.

Everyone in the groups has now been asked if everyone can be emailing companies again for help for the raffle as we are looking at putting the prizes i have managed to get my hands on into hampers.

Throughout the whole of showcase I have personally been emailing companies asking them if they would be kind enough to donate something so it will help us all towards the showcase and we would put it in a raffle as prizes. I have explained on the email why we are doing it, what it's for and how it's going to benefit us and also the charity. I have found it hard to get some prizes as some companies don't want to help i have found finding mens prizes is extremely hard but i am still emailing different companies and hoping that i can manage to get more especially that its all for a good cause.

Showcase Groups & Social Media

So we are all split into different groups to put together for all the preparation for the show case with both first years and second years.

Mollie Mansell has assigned herself to be the showcase manager and she's put everyone into groups and each week she gives us all job roles to do within our group.

• Team Events Planning- Is probably the most stressful job as we have to organise the showcase, from finding a location, organising DJS, food, Music, Model casting calls, Raffle prizes and even down to Transport and photographers.

• Team Finance and Accounting- Deals with the money thats been raised and working out all our expenses.

• Team Fundraising- Deals with all the planning to earn the money to fund the showcase, and also contacting companies for help with exposure.

• Team Marketing- The guys from marketing will be all about spreading the word about our showcase they will be making flyers, handing them out, making a website, and putting it all on social media to advertise our showcase so members of the public can see whats going on and they can come along to the event themselves

Along side our showcase meetings we have on a Monday afternoon we have set up a Facebook page purely to keep in contact with each other and keep up to date on whats happening and if there are any changes to our plans.

Colour concept planning

So in todays lesson i practiced another look for the colour concept still sticking with my colour purple  i wanted to make it more glam this time by doing a really nice smokey purple eye. I thought it looked amazing with my clients eyes as she has piercing green eyes and purple really makes green eyes pop.
I have so many ideas i want to put into place i really want to do 2 models one being a more glamour look and the other i want to be more native American tribal with my own twist. I want to get a feather headdress that the tribe used to wear but really bling it up.

Purple: To be purple symbolises royalty, wealth and luxury.

The color purple is a rare occurring color in nature and as a result is often seen as having sacred meaning. Lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are considered delicate and precious.

The color purple has a variety of effects on the mind and body, including uplifting spirits, calming the mind and nerves, enhancing the sacred, creating feelings of spirituality, increasing nurturing tendencies and sensitivity, and encouraging imagination and creativity.

Purple is associated spirituality, the sacred, higher self, passion, third eye, fulfillment, and vitality. Purple helps align oneself with the whole of the universe. Different shades, tints, and hues of purple have different meanings. Light purple hues represent feminine energy and delicacy, as well as romantic and nostalgic feelings. Dark purple hues evoke feelings of gloom, sadness, and frustration. Bright purple hues suggest riches and royalty.

Light purple or lavender is a feminine, graceful, elegant color that has long been associated with refined, wealthy women. While the color purple represents royalty, lavender represents beauty and femininity. Lavender is considered to be the “grown-up” pink. Its lighter lavender shades have a sacred place in nature, with lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers considered delicate and precious. The color lavender suggests uniqueness and specialness without the deep mystery of the color purple.

Too much purple brings out qualities of irritability, impatience, and arrogance. Too little purple brings out feelings of powerlessness, negativity, and apathy.

Colour concept Practical

For my colour concept i designed my look that i wanted to create a Avant Garde heavy purple cut crease. I wanted to create something that was very bold and really stands out i used a mixture of purples to get the depth to the purple by using the two purples in the urban decay Electric palette and the dark purples in the NYX colourful palette to really build up the definition into the crease so the eye doesn't look flat. For the inner corner i added a Topshop Holographic eyeshadow and that really made the eyes pop it was a silvery eyeshadow and when the light hit it, it turned pink and purple.

To really get that bold heavy cut crease i used a lilac shadow for the transition shade then i started to build up the shadows focusing on the crease and bringing it slightly out near the inner corner using a 224 Mac brush doing circle motions blending that product in so theres no harsh lines. Using darker purples i started to slightly add them into the crease and buff them together to get that definition in the crease and i carried on adding small amounts of eyeshadow until i was happy with the colour pay off.
Once i was happy with how strong the colours looked in the crease i got a flat concealer brush and used my concealer and slightly carved where i wanted my cut crease to be once i have done this you would need to go over the eyelid again with patting motions just incase any fallout has gotten on the lid. I set the lid to prevent creasing with a cream eyeshadow and using patting motions again with a flat shader brush i packed that shadow on. But the clients eyes kept creasing just on the lid area she said she always had this problem i think next time instead of going straight in with a concealer i will put a primer on to ensure that the shadows stay put and don't move. For under the lash line i went in with our first transition colour and applied a holographic shadow into the inner corner to make the eyes POP.

The eyebrows i didn't want them too heavy i wanted them to be a natural colour and still have a slight bit of definition to them i used a mixture of two products the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pomades in Taupe and Medium brown to match the clients hair colour. I went under the clients eyebrows with a flat concealer brush and Mac studio sculpt concealer in NW15 and patted it into the skin again to set the concealer into the skin and i done the same for all over the lid to create the blank canvas for the eyeshadows.

For the skin i wanted a flawless finish so i used Mac studio fix fluid in NC15 and doing patted the product into the skin using a powder brush i find doing it like this creates a flawless finish and if you use blending motions on the skin i feel like it doesn't give you as much coverage as your wiping the foundation away. By patting the foundation in also it sets it and you don't loose as much product as you would buffing it into the skin and gives you thats flawless finish. I added a slight  bit of LA girl concealer in porcelain under the clients eyes just to highlight the area and patted it in using a clean foundation brush and set with translucent powder. For the contour i applied a slight amount of Mac bronzer in dark tan just to give the face bit more colour and structure and finished off with a dab of Mac extra dimension highlight.

I found that the concealer and powder that i used together didn't really work well together as there was slight creasing under the eye my client said that this does happen a lot to her skin and i applied just a slight bit of cream eyeshadow to prevent it showing on the camera. If it was a real shoot then it would be really noticeable due to the bright lights and it could ruin your photos but you can take your makeup to the shoot with you and just add some finishing touches to the makeup.

 

Colour theme designs

For our concepts my class has chosen colour we all have to pick a colour and design a makeup and then we can use it in our showcase. I have chosen the colour purple I think it works well on any eye colour and it really stands out so well.

I want to do something more adventurous I want to do a more avant garde look I want very bold, heavy eyes, fluffy brows flawless skin a heavy contour and I'm thinking a ombré lip. 

I have started to design my look on a face chart to see what can work and what cant.

 

As you can see I have really emphasised the crease as the crease is the main key focus I have built up the colours to give the crease more definition i have used the Urban decay Electric palette. I have smoked under the eyes with one of the same purples that was used to build the crease up.

The skin is very bronzed and structured with the contour.

My productive week off

So as its been half term i have been rather productive if i say so myself. I have created a Facebook page promoting myself as a Makeup artist and putting photos and videos of my recent work on there to start getting recognission. I have turned my spare room into a photography studio as when i used to blog i already had all the studio lighting, different backdrops and the stand for them and a good camera so every weekend i am constantly doing different makeups on family and friends and taking photos again to promote myself and to make sure that my photos look nice for my portfolio and also my Facebook page.
I have emailed various places/companies for me to volunteer for work experience to get my hours up but unfortunately i haven't heard back just yet but i will keep it going.
Also i have been emailing different companies for prizes for our charity event and i have a huge box full which i will give to one of the year 2's when we can go back and i am still emailing places for help. Especially as i have my best friends charity event the day after ours as she suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and all the money raised for that night will be going towards her treatment and medication to keep her alive.
When I'm emailing the companies i let them all know about both charities and how the support will help raise awareness and help many peoples lives. The amount of support I'm getting from quite a lot of people its lovely and so over whelming, but some bigger companies do have their own charities that they already support which is understandable so they unfortunately cant help but i am still emailing a lot of places for help.

Week 2 Showcase 6/2/17

For our second meeting with the second years we have now decided on jobs i am continuing with emailing companies to see if they are willing to help with the raffle prizes and so far its going well i have already had a few companies who have emailed back to say they will send me items for the raffle such as Mykitco, Spectrum Brushes, Essence and Belle view dog racing.

Other than this we are still trying to find a location for the event we thought we had a perfect one but the price was slightly too much. So we are still on the hunt for the perfect one thats suited to our needs with a DJ, Bar ect.
The food is sorted as the SCC catering students will sort that out for us for the night.

Review Week 1 Industry Showcase meeting.

WEEK 1:
So for the first week we had gotten together in our new groups and decided exactly what was going on i had chosen to be in the events planning group as i really enjoy things like that and I'm currently planning an Charity event of my own for my best friend who suffers with Cystic Fibrosis and i really enjoy it.

We have all decided to look on the internet for suitable venues for our event to take place. We need somewhere with free parking as most of the guests will have a car, A bar must be included so our guests can have either a normal drink or an alcoholic drink, we want to know if we can bring our own DJ or if one is provided but it would be easier if one could be provided, we would like to know about the food if this comes with the room as some room hires do provide food on top of the venue.

We all have been doing our own research on different venues seeing what one would be most practical and better for all of us and reporting back to some of the year 2 girls in our group so they can start to take notes of where we have tried and can start to jot prices down.

I have took it upon myself to start to email companies to see if any of them can help out with our raffle prizes and i have managed to get so far Free tickets to Belle View dog racing, a free bet and a free drink. I am currently in the process of emailing and asking people for help as its for an amazing cause and it will help us all out.

Model Casting

For Makeup Artists, Photographers, Fashion Designers and even Hairdressers finding models can be hard, especially they need to fit your criteria and they would have to be perfect for the theme.



To find the Perfect model for your work/portfolio you must;

· Be Specific in your needs: Such as hair, Blondes, Brunettes, Redheads,  Do you want them to be Walking Dancing or  Sashaying on the shoot? If you choose a ballet theme for example if you want your model to do ballet poses and dances make sure that she/he is capable of doing it. Make sure you know their Clothes size as you will be providing an outfit for the shoot. Ethnicity Skin tones really are a huge thing you need to take into consideration and it all depends on your theme. You cant have a ice queen theme and have a really tanned or dark skinned model you would want someone with porcaline skin to tie in with your theme as its your work and you want it to be the best it can be.

· Once you have found a model, Ensure you take details of their name, contact number, email, shoe size? dress size?

· Take a photo as a reference point

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACK UPS FOR MODELS AS NOT ALWAYS REALIABLE. (Don’t tell your back up model this as she probably would cancel)
